During 2023, Pluspetrol delivered to the Asociación de Ayuda al Niño Quemado (Aniquem) 58,000 kilograms of recyclable waste such as paper, cardboard, plastic, wood, among others, which allows financing physical, occupational and psychological therapies for 52 burned children, who are assisted through the program’s association, for a whole year.

During the forum, panels and discussions were held on topics related to the challenges and perspectives of the energy industry in Ecuador, IA in hydrocarbon operations, good compliance practices, process safety management (PSM) from an environmental point of view, sustainability from a social point of view and operational excellence.
Aniquem is an institution that has been working to benefit low-income children and teenagers who require comprehensive rehabilitation after burn injuries. In this regard, it has the “Recycle to help” program, in which Pluspetrol has been actively supporting through the delivery of recyclable waste; a process that generates income so that the association can finance the treatment of children.
Due to this support and for the second consecutive year, Pluspetrol was granted the Yanapay award, this time in the category "Enhancing the value of recycling", an acknowledgment that was awarded for generating value with its waste and for incorporating innovative activities into the recycling chain, becoming a double impact company.
“At Pluspetrol we are grateful to Aniquem for allowing us to contribute to programs that improve burned children’s life quality and that give social value to our environmental commitment,” said Elena Mendoza, the company’s Environmental Manager.
As per Aniquem, the total of recyclable materials delivered in 2023 by Pluspetrol represents an environmental benefit equivalent to having avoided the felling of 347 trees or saving more than 367,000 gallons of water.
