Pluspetrol Norte (better known as PPN) is located in the Department of Loreto, northern Peru. The start of operations in 1996 marked the first step towards the international expansion of Pluspetrol and the beginning of a prosperous relationship with Peru. At this site, Pluspetrol specializes in the rehabilitation of mature fields, complex logistics and upstream treatment. Here it applies its knowledge and optimized processes to the extraction of heavy oil. PPN generates the highest production rate of heavy oil in Peru.

The activities constitute a challenge due to the remote location of the sites, which can only be reached by air or river. Pluspetrol Norte’s operations have a strong impact on the country's energy resources.

Pluspetrol implements mechanisms for the sustainable use of water including water reuse and actions to raise awareness among employees. It also applies appropriate technological alternatives for wastewater treatment and implements comprehensive controls to ensure discharge quality.

At PPN, and all other company operations, the company is constantly looking to use energy more efficiently and to reduce the risk of pollution. PPN designs and implements its own management projects for waste, licenses and permits, and the environmental assessment and remediation of impacted sites, in accordance with regulations and new environmental quality standards in order to ensure the sustainability of operations and minimize environmental impacts
